Big news hit the retail market this month as eBay US announced its plans to begin using Dutch payment platform Adyen as its primary payment platform, and will instead use PayPal as a secondary option.
The move was touted as a method of offering a better user experience for customers, who will no longer have to even leave the eBay website to process their payments. This means that customers can instead manage their purchase end-to-end from one window, reducing friction and chances of technical glitches.
This will also hopefully lead to lower fees paid by merchants, making this a more attractive and streamlined option for most of our clients.
However, eBay has confirmed that PayPal will remain a payment option until at least 2023, and there are no set dates for Adyen’s introduction to the Australian store.
